Tanners, dyers, parchmenters, and many other craftsmen have a use for mordant products for their work. Mordants are products used to stabilize or clean other materials (often hides from animals). They can be chemical in nature like lye or can come from plants, or even urine, which is still collected in the middle age as it was by the Roman. Storage requires cheap and stable containers, like Pottery and this drudge work of collection and handling is often done by the poorest of the poorest. Still, the service they provide is invaluable!
