In Medieval times, Supply Camps (or depots) were a rarity. Most armies dragged behind them a logistic train made of slow, lumbering wagons. Some nomads did without it through more frugality asked to their warriors and more looting of the countryside. A king planning in advance the stockpiling of Food and spare Equipment had to face numerous passive resistances like misappropriation at all levels of the supply chain or the simple fact the logistic system simply was not fit for the job.
