2PietyJob Kind Religious
This is an uncommon upgrade of the 'common' Monastery with a high Piety requirement, and although costly to set up, it is well worth the investment in the long run (it is thus exclusive to the Abbey). It's probably not a good idea to invest in a Cistercian Monastery in unstable regions, as its loss would be a severe blow. As the economic weight of the Cistercian order increased, it favored the Church over the many feudal petty lords in the mind of many people. Contrary to the Monastery, a Cistercian Monastery will generate Religious Works without consuming Parchments, it can be the desired outcome, or a problem for the region. A reformed order branch of the Benedictine Order (which at its peaks was made of nearly one hundred thousand monasteries!), the Cistercian Order was putting more emphasis on asceticism and manual labor. It also had an important role in the Christianisation of some parts of Europe.
